On October
14–17, 2025, the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the
Directorate of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Substances
(DPFRZR), conducted a field verification at the facilities of PT Rel-ion
Sterilization Services, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
This activity was
led by the DPFRZR BAPETEN team, with the field verification team chaired by
Grace Esterina, and members including Muttaqin Margo Nirwono, Ika Andesmawati,
and Kristyo Rumboko, who are evaluation staff from the Industrial and Research
Facility Licensing Function Group, to carry out a comprehensive inspection. The
BAPETEN team directly reviewed the operations of the Gamma irradiator
(Cobalt-60) and Electron Beam (E-Beam), radiation protection systems, as well
as technical documentation supporting the operation license of Category II
irradiation facilities.
On this occasion,
PT Rel-ion Sterilization Services presented an explanation regarding the
configuration of radiation source placement, commissioning results, and
radiation exposure measurement reports. The verification process ensured that
all aspects of safety, security, and operational readiness were in compliance
with regulatory requirements.
The presence of
BAPETEN at Rel-ion serves as tangible evidence that the supervision of nuclear
technology utilization in Indonesia is carried out strictly and transparently.
For Rel-ion, this activity further strengthens the company’s commitment as a
pioneer of commercial irradiation services in Indonesia since 1992, and
reaffirms the readiness of the new Electron Beam facility, which began
operations in August 2025.
With the support of official oversight, PT Rel-ion Sterilization Services is increasingly established as a trusted partner for the food, pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic, and packaging industries that require the highest standards of microbiological safety.
